Fisker Ocean battery replacement

Electric SUV; the 12V battery runs its locks and computers and must be healthy for the car to power up.

The Ocean drives on a large high-voltage pack, but its doors, screens, computers and the contactors that connect that pack all run from a conventional 12V battery. If the 12V side drops too low, the car cannot wake the high-voltage system at all. Replacing the 12V battery is a normal service task; the traction battery is a separate matter we do not touch.

Choosing the battery for a Ocean

We start with the build year and engine, then read the fitted battery label. The technician checks battery technology, amp-hour rating, case dimensions, hold-down and terminal side. A battery with the right voltage but the wrong case or terminal layout is not a sound fit.

The old battery is tested before removal and the charging system is checked after fitting. If the car needs a battery-management reset or registration, the technician explains the requirement for that version before the work is closed.

About Fisker batteries

Fisker owners are in an unusual position. Fisker Inc., maker of the Ocean electric SUV, filed for bankruptcy in 2024, and the earlier Karma plug-in hybrid came from a company that had already folded a decade before. With no brand dealer to call, routine jobs fall to independent specialists. Replacing the 12V battery is one of those jobs, and it matters more than it sounds: on both cars, a weak 12V battery can leave the vehicle locked, dark and unable to switch on.
