A Patrol on a dune trip idles with the air conditioning at full, runs recovery lights and compressors, and gets restarted after every stop. Its battery, around 100Ah across the XE, SE, LE, Platinum and Nismo trims, is sized for that. A smaller battery fitted to save money will usually start the car at home, then leave it struggling in the desert on a hot afternoon, which is the worst possible place to find out.

Taxi, rental and delivery Nissans rarely switch off for long. Hundreds of short journeys, constant air conditioning and idling in queues keep their compact batteries partly charged most of the time, and heat does the rest. On these cars a battery test at every service is cheap insurance against a car off the road for a day.
The GT-R keeps its battery in the boot for better weight balance, so the technician needs the boot cleared. The Leaf is fully electric but still relies on a 12V battery to power up; a Leaf that will not turn on with charge showing usually needs that battery replaced. We do the 12V battery only, never the drive pack.
