Mitsubishi has deep roots in the UAE. The Pajero was a desert and family favourite for decades before production ended, the L200 is a staple of construction sites and farms, and the Attrage and Mirage fill rental and delivery fleets. Pajero and Montero owners tend to keep their cars for many years, and plenty of well-used examples are still doing desert trips. They take a battery of around 80Ah, sized for a big engine, a heavy cooling load and often extra lights or a winch. Older Pajeros also deserve a look at the cables and earth straps, since heat and vibration take their toll over time.
An L200 or Triton on site duty starts and stops all day, idles with the air conditioning on and collects dust in the engine bay. The battery, around 65Ah on common trims, works harder than in a private car. Clean terminals, a firm hold-down and a test every few months keep it from failing on the morning the crew needs it.
The Outlander plug-in hybrid has a large drive battery and a separate 12V battery that powers up the car's systems. When the 12V battery fails, the car may not enter Ready mode even with a full charge. We replace the 12V battery; the drive battery is a dealer matter.
