Many Mercedes models carry a small auxiliary battery in addition to the main one. It backs up systems such as the gearbox park function and supports ECO start-stop. When it weakens, the dashboard shows the well-known auxiliary battery malfunction message, often while the main battery is perfectly healthy. The technician tests both and tells you which one has actually failed before replacing anything.

On a large number of Mercedes models, including many E-Class and S-Class generations, the main battery sits in the boot. Others hide it under the floor in the passenger footwell or beneath a cover in the engine bay. The engine bay usually has jump-start points either way. Tell us the model and year and we know where to look, which keeps the visit short.
Newer models such as the latest S-Class, E-Class and many GLE and GLS versions use a 48V integrated starter-generator, badged EQ Boost. The engine is started by that system, yet the car still has a 12V battery powering its control units, and when it is weak the car may not start at all. We replace the 12V battery; the 48V battery is dealer work.

The small backup battery that supports systems like the gearbox park function and start-stop is weak. It is a separate part from the main battery, and it is often the only one that needs replacing.
Nearly all current models do. Fitting a conventional flooded battery leads to start-stop faults and a short life in UAE heat. Match the AGM type and capacity of the original.
