Huanghai is the pickup and light-vehicle brand of SG Automotive, based in Dandong in Liaoning province near the North Korean border; the same group is also known for its buses. Its N-series pickups are built as working trucks, and the few in the UAE tend to live on construction, farm and maintenance sites rather than in city car parks. Fine sand settles on the battery top, mixes with the slight acid film around the posts and forms a crust that raises resistance at the clamp. The truck may crank slowly even though the battery still holds charge. When we replace a Huanghai battery we clean both clamps back to bright metal, check the earth strap to the chassis, and coat the terminals so the next layer of dust has less to grip.

A pickup that runs over graded site roads every day shakes its battery constantly. If the hold-down bar has gone missing or its bolt has worked loose, the case can rock, crack the internal plates and fail months early. We will not leave a battery sitting loose in the tray: if the original clamp is missing we fit a secure one, because vibration damage is the failure that heat usually gets blamed for.
Huanghai pickups have been offered with both petrol and diesel engines depending on market and year, and imported trucks do not always carry clear paperwork. A diesel needs noticeably more cranking current, so the replacement has to be chosen for that. The engine cover, the registration card or the old battery's label all help us bring the right unit.
