Jinbei is the commercial-vehicle side of the Brilliance group in Shenyang, and the name most people know it by is the Haise, a large van whose body and layout follow an earlier generation of the Toyota HiAce. The range also includes Grace people carriers, X30 microvans and T-series light trucks. Because the Haise resembles an older HiAce, it is tempting to order the Toyota battery for it. Engines, market specification and wiring differ between the two, and a Jinbei built for the Chinese market may carry a different size or terminal arrangement. We treat the Toyota listing as a starting point only and confirm against the battery that came out of the van.
On forward-control vans the engine sits under or behind the front seats, and the battery can be under a seat base, behind a kick panel or reached from outside rather than under a conventional bonnet. If you know where yours is, tell us when booking; if not, we find it on arrival. Either way, allow a little more time than for a car, and make sure the front doors can open fully where the van is parked.
Many Haise vans used for staff or school transport have a roof-mounted rear air-conditioning unit, extra lighting and sometimes a camera or tracking box. That equipment runs from the same charging system as the standard van, so a battery that would be adequate for a cargo version works much harder in a fourteen-seater idling at a pickup point.
