Kia EV6 battery replacement

Only the 12V auxiliary battery is ours to replace; the high-voltage pack stays with the dealer.

The first-generation Niro hybrid supplies 12V power from inside its lithium hybrid pack, and a 12V battery reset button on the dashboard lets the driver recover from a flat state. There is no lead-acid battery to swap on that car, so a no-start there is a reset or dealer matter. The Niro EV, EV6, EV9 and other electric Kias do carry a conventional 12V auxiliary battery, which is the part we replace.

Choosing the battery for a EV6

We start with the build year and engine, then read the fitted battery label. The technician checks battery technology, amp-hour rating, case dimensions, hold-down and terminal side. A battery with the right voltage but the wrong case or terminal layout is not a sound fit.

The old battery is tested before removal and the charging system is checked after fitting. If the car needs a battery-management reset or registration, the technician explains the requirement for that version before the work is closed.
