Lexus RX battery replacement

Around 70Ah on petrol and hybrid versions; the RX 450h also depends on its 12V battery to power up.

ES 300h, RX 450h, NX and UX hybrids start their systems with a 12V auxiliary battery, frequently mounted in the boot or under a rear panel rather than beside the engine. It rarely needs to crank anything, so it can weaken quietly until the car refuses to enter Ready mode one morning. We replace this 12V battery; the high-voltage hybrid pack is not part of our work.

Choosing the battery for a RX

We start with the build year and engine, then read the fitted battery label. The technician checks battery technology, amp-hour rating, case dimensions, hold-down and terminal side. A battery with the right voltage but the wrong case or terminal layout is not a sound fit.

The old battery is tested before removal and the charging system is checked after fitting. If the car needs a battery-management reset or registration, the technician explains the requirement for that version before the work is closed.

About Lexus batteries

Lexus has a strong following in the UAE, with the LX as the flagship many families aspire to and the ES a staple for executives and chauffeured drivers. Across the range, capacity rises with size: the ES uses around 60Ah, the RX about 70Ah, the GX about 80Ah and the LX around 100Ah. The hybrids, sold under the h badge, add a separate 12V auxiliary battery that behaves differently from a normal starter battery.
