MAN is best known for heavy trucks and buses, but the TGE is its large van, introduced in 2017 and built in Poland alongside the second-generation Volkswagen Crafter, with which it shares its body, engines and electrics. MAN and Volkswagen belong to the same group, so the TGE is in effect a Crafter sold through MAN's truck network to business customers. We replace batteries in TGE vans, chassis cabs and minibuses at the depot or on site; MAN's heavy trucks are outside our service.

Because the TGE shares its platform with the Crafter, it also shares Volkswagen's approach to battery management. Many versions have start-stop, which calls for an EFB or AGM battery of the type shown on the original label rather than a basic flooded unit. The van's control unit monitors battery condition, and after a replacement it may need to be told a new battery is fitted so that charging works as intended.

A TGE on courier, maintenance or ambulance work may run from dawn with the engine idling for the air conditioning, beacons flashing and equipment charging from the van's supply. That is a heavy cycling load for a starter battery in UAE heat. Businesses that plan replacements at around the two to three year mark usually avoid the morning when a loaded van refuses to start.
Campervans, mobile workshops and some passenger conversions add a leisure or auxiliary battery to run lights, fridges or tools without draining the starter battery. That second battery belongs to the conversion, often with its own charger or split-charge relay. We test and replace the starting battery and can check whether the auxiliary one is charging, but we tell you first if it is a specialist unit from the converter.
