Moskvich was a Soviet-era carmaker in Moscow whose original factory stopped production in the early 2000s. The name returned in 2022, when the city took over a former Renault plant and began assembling cars from kits supplied by China's JAC. The Moskvich 3 is closely related to the JAC JS4, the 3e is its electric version, and the Moskvich 6 is a liftback linked to the JAC J7. The few in the UAE are recent private imports.

Under the Moskvich badge, the electrical system, battery tray and control units come from the JAC donor car, not from the old Soviet Moskvich line. That helps when a battery fails, because the replacement is matched to a modern Chinese-built crossover rather than a Russian-standard layout. We still read the capacity and case size from the fitted battery, since kit-assembled cars can differ in detail from the donor model.

These are modern cars with keyless entry, a large touchscreen, driver aids and an automatic gearbox on most versions. A tired battery tends to show up as flickering screens, warnings that come and go, or a start button that clicks without the engine turning. After fitting, we check that the clock, windows and infotainment settle down, because some settings may need to be entered again once power returns.
The Moskvich 3e drives on a large traction battery but wakes up through an ordinary 12V battery, which also runs the locks, lights and control units. If the traction battery still has plenty of range yet the car stays dark, that small battery is the usual cause. Our work stops at the 12V unit; anything involving the high-voltage system belongs with a specialist.
