The 200, 400 and 600 of the early 1990s shared much of their engineering with Honda models, while the 75 was designed under BMW ownership and the 25 and 45 evolved from earlier Rovers. Battery sizes and positions therefore vary across the range. A photo of the fitted battery, or of the tray if it has been removed, is the best guide.
A Rover used a few weekends a year in the UAE spends months in heat with a small standby drain from the alarm and clock. That combination can take a battery below the point of recovery. For stored cars, a maintenance charger or disconnecting the negative terminal before a long break makes a real difference.
