Around it sit the XT crossovers, the CT saloons and the electric Lyriq. Three rows of climate control, large curved displays, powered running boards, a premium sound system and, on newer versions, hands-free driving technology all draw on the Escalade's electrical system. Parked outside in July and idled with the air conditioning on, it cycles its battery hard. We bring the full-capacity AGM specification, never a smaller unit that simply fits.
Several Cadillac saloons, including generations of the CTS, ATS and CT6, mount the battery at the rear for better weight balance, with jump posts under the bonnet. If you open the bonnet and cannot find a battery, that is why. The technician will need access to the boot floor.
Many recent XT crossovers and CT saloons use automatic start-stop, which requires an AGM battery to survive constant restarts. The electric Lyriq has no engine to crank, but a 12V battery still runs its computers and connects the drive battery; when it fails, the Lyriq may not power up. We replace that 12V battery and leave the high-voltage system to the dealer.

On later CTS generations it is in the boot, not under the bonnet. The bonnet has jump-start posts only. The technician replaces it from the boot.
