Like other cars on the same platforms, a Cupra records the battery's type and capacity in its control unit and adjusts charging to suit. A new battery of a different specification, or one that is not recorded, can be charged incorrectly and wear out early. We fit the matching specification; if the car needs the change registered, that is done with diagnostic equipment by a specialist.
The 2.0 TSI engines in the Formentor VZ and Leon produce strong performance, yet in daily UAE traffic they spend a lot of time stopping and restarting. That is exactly the work AGM and EFB batteries are built for. A cheaper flooded replacement usually causes start-stop to stop working and fails early in summer.
The Born and Tavascan have no starter motor, but a 12V battery still runs the locks, displays and control units and brings the high-voltage system online. If it weakens, the car may show errors or refuse to switch on. We replace the 12V battery only; the traction battery remains with the dealer.
