Everus, called Linian in China, was a brand set up by GAC Honda, the joint venture between Guangzhou Automobile Group and Honda, to sell models developed for Chinese buyers. The first, the S1 small saloon of 2011, used Honda underpinnings, and the later VE-1 is an electric SUV derived from the Vezel, the Chinese-market sister of the HR-V. Neither was offered through UAE dealers, so an Everus here is a private import, but its Honda roots make the battery easier to match than the badge suggests.

The S1 shares much of its design with Honda's small cars of the same period, so it is likely to use a compact Japanese-pattern battery of a kind that is easy to find here. A parts shop may not recognise the Everus name at all. Once the technician sees the tray and which side the positive post sits on, matching the replacement is straightforward.
The VE-1 moves on electricity alone, yet its locks, screens and battery-management computers run from a modest 12V battery that the main pack keeps topped up. If that small battery fails, the car can appear completely dead even while the app shows plenty of range. Our job is the 12V unit; the traction pack and its cooling system stay with an EV-qualified workshop.
An EV's 12V battery is never asked to turn a starter motor, so it rarely gives the slow-crank warning petrol owners are used to. It simply stops one morning, often after a hot spell with the car parked outside. For a VE-1 more than three years old, a test before the summer months is a sensible precaution.
