FAW Toyota is the older of Toyota's two Chinese partnerships, with plants in Tianjin and other cities, and it built both familiar models and names never offered in the Gulf. The Reiz was the China-market Mark X, the Crown was assembled locally for years, the Corolla EX kept an earlier Corolla on sale, and the Izoa is FAW's take on the C-HR. A handful arrive here as private imports. Toyota's battery logic is the same worldwide, but equipment and fitment on China-built cars can differ, so we check the actual car.

Toyota builds in China with both FAW and GAC, and each partner sells its own version of several cars: FAW's Corolla, RAV4 and Izoa have GAC counterparts in the Levin, Wildlander and C-HR. The twins share their engineering and usually their battery, but trims and hybrid options differ. Knowing which partner built the car narrows the search before we lift the bonnet.

The Reiz and the China-built Crown are rear-wheel-drive saloons, most with V6 engines, that served widely as executive cars. The battery shares a crowded engine bay with a large engine, and in a UAE summer that trapped heat is what shortens its life. A heat-tolerant maintenance-free unit of the original size is the sensible replacement, and shaded parking genuinely helps it last.
The Prius was among the first hybrids assembled in China, and like every Toyota hybrid it keeps a small 12V battery separate from the drive pack. When that 12V battery weakens the car will not reach Ready, even though the hybrid battery is healthy. We replace the 12V unit on site; anything on the high-voltage side stays with a hybrid specialist.
