The Metro was built to be light and frugal, most often with a three-cylinder engine, and its battery is correspondingly small. Fitting a bigger unit because it seems stronger can mean a case that overhangs the tray or a clamp that no longer holds. Choosing the battery for a Metro

We start with the build year and engine, then read the fitted battery label. The technician checks battery technology, amp-hour rating, case dimensions, hold-down and terminal side. A battery with the right voltage but the wrong case or terminal layout is not a sound fit.

The old battery is tested before removal and the charging system is checked after fitting. If the car needs a battery-management reset or registration, the technician explains the requirement for that version before the work is closed.

About GEO batteries

Geo was a badge General Motors used in North America from 1989 to 1997 to sell small cars engineered with its Japanese partners. The Metro and Tracker came from Suzuki, the Prizm was a Corolla built with Toyota in California, and the Spectrum and Storm were Isuzu designs. A Geo in the UAE today is a rare, usually privately imported survivor. The useful point for battery work is that each one follows its Japanese donor car, not a GM parts list.
