Hawtai is a privately owned Chinese carmaker that started out building Hyundai designs under licence, most notably the first-generation Santa Fe, sold as the Santa Fe Classic, and the Terracan off-roader. It later moved on to models of its own, such as the Boliger and Laville SUVs, while reusing the Santa Fe name on several of them. Hawtais are rare in the UAE, and owners often assume a Hyundai battery will drop straight in without checking.

A Hawtai Santa Fe Classic looks almost identical to the early Hyundai Santa Fe, but engines, wiring and fittings were sourced for Chinese production and can differ from the Korean original. A Hyundai-listed battery often fits, yet not always with the same terminal side or hold-down. We compare the actual tray, clamp and cable reach before committing to a unit.

Hawtai used the Santa Fe name on more than one model over the years, and they are not all the same car as the licensed original. Booking a Hawtai Santa Fe therefore tells us little on its own. Read the full model name and year from the registration card when you contact us, and we can narrow the battery down before the technician sets off.
The Terracan is a ladder-frame off-roader, and if yours has a diesel engine it needs a battery with more cranking reserve than a petrol version would. Body-on-frame SUVs also shake a battery harder on desert tracks and rutted site roads. Confirm the fuel type when booking, and expect us to check that the clamp holds the case firmly.

For the licence-built Santa Fe Classic it is often a close match, but not guaranteed. We check the case size, terminal layout and clamp before fitting anything, and for later Hawtai models we go by the battery already in the car.
