The rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Caprice and Lumina sold across the Gulf for years were built by Holden in Adelaide, sharing their platform with the Commodore and Holden Caprice. If you own a Holden Commodore or Caprice from the VE or VF era, it shares its underpinnings with the Chevrolet Lumina and Caprice that police forces and families across the region drove for years. That common ground makes the battery straightforward to source, even though the Holden brand itself is gone. Give us the year and engine, and we will confirm the size.
Many Holdens in the UAE are weekend or collector cars, often V8 Monaros, Utes and high-performance Commodores kept under covers for most of the year. A battery that sits discharged through a UAE summer suffers permanent damage from sulphation. A battery maintainer is the simplest protection; failing that, disconnect the negative terminal when the car will be stored for weeks.
The final Commodore, sold from 2018 until the brand closed, was an imported front-drive or all-wheel-drive car based on the Opel Insignia rather than the Australian-built rear-drive design. Its battery and electrical system follow the European car. Tell us the year so the technician does not arrive with a battery for the wrong generation.
