Lincoln LS battery replacement

The LS is listed in the Lincoln vehicle catalogue as a sedan. Its battery choice depends on year, engine and installed equipment. We test the car first and match the replacement against the unit it actually uses.

Recent Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus and Corsair models shut the engine off at lights, and the AGM battery keeps the cabin cool and the screens alive while it is off. A conventional flooded replacement will not survive that duty for long. Many Lincolns also have a battery monitoring sensor on the negative terminal; after a new battery goes in, that sensor should be reset so charging suits the new unit, which is a job for proper diagnostic equipment.

Choosing the battery for a LS

We start with the build year and engine, then read the fitted battery label. The technician checks battery technology, amp-hour rating, case dimensions, hold-down and terminal side. A battery with the right voltage but the wrong case or terminal layout is not a sound fit.

The old battery is tested before removal and the charging system is checked after fitting. If the car needs a battery-management reset or registration, the technician explains the requirement for that version before the work is closed.
