A Tahoe or Suburban with three rows of passengers, rear air conditioning and screens running uses far more current at idle than a saloon, and a Silverado may be running a toolbox light bar or a trailer. These trucks need the larger group sizes and the higher end of the capacity range. Diesel Silverado HD versions are built with two batteries, and both should be tested together.
The sixth-generation Camaro moved its battery from the engine bay to the boot, partly to improve weight balance. Owners of these cars who lift the bonnet and see no battery are not imagining it. The replacement is an AGM unit on many versions, and the technician will need the boot emptied.
The Groove, Spark, Aveo and Captiva spend their lives on short trips with the air conditioning at full, which leaves little time for the alternator to recover what each start used. Their smaller batteries also have less reserve to begin with. In UAE summers, around two to three years is a typical life for them.
