Audi has built cars in China with FAW since the late 1980s, and the Changchun plant turns out versions made for Chinese buyers, best known for the long-wheelbase A4L, A6L and Q5L with extra rear legroom. A few reach the UAE through private import or with owners relocating from China. Underneath they are close to the Audis sold here, but the equipment, software and paperwork follow the China market, so we treat each one on its own terms rather than assuming the Gulf-spec battery.

Stretching the wheelbase adds rear-seat space, and an A6L generally keeps the battery arrangement of the standard car, which on recent generations means a unit under the boot floor. What can change is the equipment specified for China, such as rear screens or extra comfort features, and that affects the capacity the car expects. The rating on the fitted AGM is a surer guide than a Gulf-spec parts list.
Audi's energy management expects a new battery to be recorded in the car, and a China-built model is no exception. The catch is that some diagnostic equipment in the UAE may not recognise China-market vehicle data straight away, and the menus may still be set to Chinese. We fit the matching battery and tell you whether registration applies, so you can check beforehand that your specialist can read the car.
An Audi shipped from China can spend weeks at port or in a storage yard before it is registered here, and its battery often arrives badly discharged. A battery pulled that low may seem to recover after a jump start and then fail within days. If your imported car needed a boost on arrival, have the battery load-tested before the summer rather than trusting it.
