GAC Toyota is the Guangzhou half of Toyota's Chinese production, and many of its cars are twins of models built by FAW Toyota in the north: the Levin partners the Corolla and the Wildlander the RAV4. It also builds its own Camry and Highlander for China, the small Yaris L family, and the iA5, an electric saloon based on a GAC Aion model. Gulf-spec Toyotas come from other factories, so an occasional GAC Toyota import can surprise a workshop. We confirm the model and power source first.

Hybrid versions of the Levin, Camry, Wildlander and Highlander were widely offered in China, so an imported car may well be one even if its Gulf-spec cousin usually is not. Each hybrid keeps a 12V battery, sometimes away from the engine bay, that boots the systems and connects the drive pack. When it fails the car will not reach Ready. We replace that 12V battery only.

The iA5 was built on GAC's Aion electric platform and badged as a Toyota for China. It has no starter battery in the usual sense, yet its 12V auxiliary battery still wakes the car, runs the locks and connects the traction pack. Owners often mistake a flat 12V battery for a serious fault. We test and replace it on site; the traction battery is not our work.
The Yaris L and its variants were China-market small cars bought for city driving and quick errands. Brief trips with the air conditioning on rarely give the alternator time to refill a small battery, and heat does the rest. If a Yaris L mostly potters around town, an occasional longer drive or a session on a maintainer keeps it healthy.

We replace its 12V auxiliary battery, the usual culprit when the car will not wake up. The high-voltage battery and its systems are outside our work.
