Gratour was a short-lived Chinese car brand with links to the BAIC group, selling four models, the im6, im8, ix5 and ix7, for roughly two years from 2017. Production was small and the name disappeared quickly, so a Gratour in the UAE is a genuine rarity, usually brought in privately. We do not rely on brochures for these cars. The battery tray, the terminals and the unit already fitted tell us more than anything written about the brand.

Rare imports often spend long spells parked while paperwork, parts or a buyer is found. A battery left discharged for weeks in the heat sulphates, and even after a full charge it may crank once and then fade. If your Gratour has been standing, we load-test the battery rather than judge it by a voltage reading, which can look healthy on a battery that has lost most of its capacity.
