Hycan was set up as a joint venture between GAC Group and NIO, pairing a large carmaker's factories with a start-up's software. NIO's role later faded, and Hycan now sits within GAC. The line-up has grown from the 007 SUV to the A06 saloon, the compact Z03 and the V09 people carrier, with some versions offered as range-extenders. Hycans are uncommon in the UAE, and most arrive as private imports.

Hycan's app lets owners cool the cabin before walking out to the car, a feature that gets heavy use in UAE summers. Each remote session wakes the car's control units, and the 12V battery carries that wake-up until the high-voltage system takes over. Several sessions a day, in a car parked in full sun, add real wear. If the app starts reporting the car as unreachable, the auxiliary battery is a likely suspect.

Despite the joint-venture history, a Hycan should not be treated as a rebadged NIO. Several models share GAC underpinnings, and the 12V battery may differ from both NIO and GAC Aion cars of a similar size. The technician checks what is fitted to your car on the day and brings a like-for-like unit rather than working from a guess based on a related brand.
On any Hycan, electric or range-extender, our work covers the 12V auxiliary battery: testing it, replacing it and confirming the car charges it properly once it is running again. Faults in the drive pack, the charging system or the generator are for GAC's service channels or an independent EV specialist.
