Ligier is a French company whose name first became famous in motor racing, but whose road vehicles today are microcars: small two-seat quadricycles such as the JS50, JS60 and electric Myli, built mainly for European towns where they can be driven on a restricted licence. A few are used in the UAE in gated communities, resorts and private estates. Their batteries are small and simple, but not the sizes a normal car shop keeps on the shelf.

The fuel-powered Ligiers use a small two-cylinder diesel engine, which needs far less cranking power than a family car. The battery is correspondingly compact, and fitting a larger car battery is usually impossible because of the tray size. Send a photo of the existing battery showing its dimensions and terminal side, and the technician will confirm a match before coming out.

Electric Ligiers such as the Myli keep a 12V battery for lights, controls and the systems that connect the drive battery. Vehicles used only occasionally around a compound or resort can sit for weeks in the heat, and that slow drain flattens small batteries quickly. A maintainer or a regular short drive keeps them healthy; the high-voltage drive battery is not something we work on.
