Panoz is a small American sports-car maker founded by Dan Panoz and based in Georgia, known to many people more for its racing programmes, including Le Mans, than for its road cars. Its front-engined models, from the early Roadster and aluminium-bodied AIV Roadster to the Esperante and Avezzano, were built in small numbers, and the earlier ones used Ford V8 engines. A Panoz in the UAE is a rare collector's car and deserves the same careful battery matching as any hand-built machine.

Because Panoz cars were assembled in small batches, battery size and position can differ between model years and even between individual cars, particularly on the older roadsters. Rather than rely on a catalogue that may not list the car at all, we ask for a picture of the fitted battery and where it sits. That tells us the case size, terminal side and mounting we need.
Much of the Esperante's drivetrain came from Ford, including a V8 shared with the Mustang of its time. That means the alternator, starter and many electrical parts are familiar and serviceable. If the car cranks slowly even with a fresh battery, a tired starter or a charging fault is the likelier cause, and we test for both before replacing anything.
Collector Panoz cars rarely cover many kilometres a year in the UAE, and long garage stays through the summer are hard on any lead-acid battery. A trickle-feed maintainer, or disconnecting the negative terminal before a long break, keeps the battery from falling into a deep discharge. Owners who travel over the summer months should arrange this before they leave.

Most use a conventional 12V battery of a common automotive type, but the size and mounting vary between models and years. We confirm from photos or the existing label so the replacement fits properly and the hold-down clamps securely.
Heat soak around a large V8 makes any engine harder to crank, and an ageing battery shows it first. We load-test the battery and check the starter and cables, because any of them can be the weak link.
